How best to survive the elbow drop BCs
CRASHMON posted on 11-02-2010:
Hi Guys
one of my warriors (record 28-13-2) did something very silly and killed a warrior on a team who has several 100+ fight warriors (107-78-6, 79-82-6, 62-37-1). Wondering the best Legal strategy to try and survive the three upcoming challenges (by Legal I mean that I have no intention of being a coward and putting him into a team fight, or going Full Plate, Full Helm, Tower shield *3 and hoping to tire out). Should I go very defensive and try to parry my way to survival, or go with my normal counterstrike tactics (he uses a Broadsword / Target Sheld combo).
I would be very happy just to lose the next thee fights, and survive, but what tactics do you experts employ when faced with three turns of elbow drop blood challenges.
Thoughs etc
Cheers

VIC VEGAS:
You can up your armor without going overboard. If you usually wear cuir, bump up to brig or scale, and drop your activity level. Hope and pray that you get a lucky hit that gets you a perm kill. heheheheh
Oh, and don't run Total Kill or Wall of Steel or Lunge or Defend or Decoy or MA. Strike is probably safe, but it won't prevent the pounding that will ensue. Good luck.

DUX MORTALITAS:
Go scale or higher, IMO + everything that Vic said.

VIC VEGAS:
You survived a 3 minute fight! Congrats. Hopefully you did not receive too many perms. heheheh
---
CRASHMON:
Did manage to survive, and no perms, and got a few hits back (but the fight was not close by any means, I was hammered).
This was his number 3 warrior however, he has another 2 with many more fights under there belt.
But hopefully the next two weeks will go like this, and I'll comeout with no perms and still alive

May I ask what the deal with Blood Challenges is?
And more importantly may I ask why you disuaded them from using Lunge, Wall of Steel etc when being BC'd? I am sure there is some logic, but damned if I am not puzzled.

There is less chance of dodging/parrying with higher activity levels/offensive strats like lunge and WoS. Def not a good thing when you have a guy with more fights coming after you.
With Bcs some people max out armour and weapons so their warrior hits the dirt wth fatigue before any lasting damage is done.
I do what Vic mentions above i bump up my armour and drop my activity level and use a defensive strat and pray!!

The best defense against blood challenges is to have veteran gladiators on every team, who can avenge your opponent's potential revenge killing of your gladiator.

Must BCs come from the team you killed some on? Or any warrior that that manager runs?

Re: How best to survive the elbow drop BCs
They can only BC with a warrior from the team that the dead warrior came from. So you hope that you don't kill anyone who is in a team that has a 200+ warrior in it! Or you get a honorable manger who dosent elbow drop, not many of them about though!!

Re: How best to survive the elbow drop BCs
The definition of an elbow drop is a gladiator who has twice as much fight experience as the guy he's blood challenging. This is the definition used in Dux's Hall of Records. An elbow dropping warrior is penalized in the hall of records, so this discourages some managers from squashing young gladiators with their older, kickass fighters, for fear of mucking up a potential spot in the DHoR.
If you kill a young, promising gladiator of mine, I will retaliate very fiercely. I have let BC opportunities slide past without raising a finger, as well. It all depends on the situation and my mood at the time. Heheheheh.
You want to really piss me off? Kill EVISCETRYX. Though, that would probably be a difficult thing to do. He's just about at the point where he would most likely perm-kill an elbow dropper.
