UNMITIGATED BRUTALITY Contest

Dux and I have agreed to run the short-term contest Unmitigated Brutality before the longer running Pre-determined.  Besides, who wouldn't love a little bloodshed after UW?

Starting 2 turns after the conclusion of Undefeated Warrior (turn 784) the portal to Unmitigated Brutality will open and will remain so for eleven turns.  During this time a pilgrim may enter the Sanctuary of Brutality and scrawl their name in blood upon the wall.  The amount and type of blood is entirely up to the pilgrim, who is now a Blood Crusader for having cast his lot with the butchers and sealed his fate with death.  When he first steps foot into the arena, do not be surprised to find a trickle of warm liquid running down the leg and onto the sands of his opponent, who uncontrollably gasps in fear as he realizes that was one of his last breaths upon this earth.

This contest will run for the first 10 turns of a gladiator's life.  If the gladiator dies before 10 fights, his record will still be entered into the competition.  I would hate to see a 5-1-5 gladiator be disqualified for simply being too brutal and not lasting ten weeks on the sand.  Only 0-0-0 gladiators may enter the competition (which is killing me because I seem to have a vicious 2-0-1 guy on my hands right now).  

There are 10 turns for you to enter gladiator(s) into the competition.

Challenges are allowed.

Boar Spear Dwarves are disqualified.

The winner is the gladiator with the most kills in the first 10 weeks of his time on the sands.  Who's gonna make the 10-0-10 gladiator?  Ties will be decided by number of wins, and thirdly, if necessary to break a tie, a warrior who survives all 10 weeks would rank higher than one who perished before then.

This will be the first contest I have run.  I am looking forward to seeing the sands run red with blood.

Too bad the rejects I sent to loser-land ended up with 20 PRE and 5 STR. Fortunately I figured such might happen so even though I planned on sitting the two teams out next week I will just send the replacements to Monster land and hope I get some goodies for the start of the contest. Might ditch another two or three as well this week.

Don't forget, there are 10 weeks to sign up a warrior. You don't have to throw all your chickens into the basket at once.

Wait...That reminds me of a warrior I once ran back in the Playtest Arena some 25+ish odd years ago...when magic was just entering the scene. So here is the story.

I get a roll-up just like this one and knowing that the magic-system (which was to start that very next turn) was benefited by Int and Pre, I keep it and make SNARF the halfling Priest of Light. So I upload the roll-up only to find out the next turn that the magic system did not start until one turn later. So I have this crappy roll-up that I figure I would try to run anyway. I make him all Bucklers, train him to master it, charge, sweep (thinking that it would work with bucklers - I know, I know...) and proceed with a warrior career that went 1-30-0. Incidentally the one win was against some bad-mo-fo horc, who proceeded to challenge SNARF the very next turn and kill him

But here is the kicker, the very best warrior design I ever came up with was inspired by SNARF! After Snarf died, I always wanted to try an shield-only warrior, but never really pulled it off with a halfling. It wasn't until years later that I got around to trying it with Dwarves. As a result some of the greatest warriors I ever managed came into being.

All thanks to SNARF (0-30-1)!

P.S. there ain't no way in H**L I am gonna try running this one again!!!

I love the tales of magic in the Pit. I wonder though, if we bring back magic and include the new suggestion of healing perms, that could make high pre warriors very tricky and longer living! Castin' spells and healin' perms.

I haven't had any roll ups that are suitable for the contest. I only have one entered and he wasn't exactly what i wanted! He is undefeated in 4 right enough.
