Pit of War
(Date Posted:12/05/2010 6:05 PM)
Hey peeps, Modofo just emailed me about this game Pit of War --Pathocrom of old. You start with one gladiator unless you fork over some real loot Anyway, so far appears pretty interesting. Fights happen at 2 AM and 2 PM PST each day. Plus you can do some special missions each day for training points and a little gold. Fights get you XPs and gold as well as training points--which are naturally used for skills (or stat increases). XP ups your level, which in turn opens new strategies for your gladiators. Hopefully we will see you on the sands of the other "Pit". It only reopened a few days ago, so come on over!

I jump in and play from time to time, but again, too much work and so little play anymore for me.

I hear ya, you work when you can. Hell, the last time I actually had a two day weekend was years ago.

I'm still kicking over there--Eric and Nate have new races and goodies--you can fight whenever you want,etc.... and hey, unlike a certain Keeper, they actually respond to questions.

Hey Klag, could you put the link here? I've since deleted the bookmark, and forgot the site.

Re: Pit of War
Just spent a 1/2 hour and did 4 fights
Seems way too complex in some ways and way less complex in others.
Might bookmark it and come back.
Intense for sure.

Some interesting concepts on how to monetize completely stolen content/ideas from Blood Pit and Nev's BP Manual.

But I'm doing good and still haven't spent a cent on it.

Re: Pit of War
I've found it to be very good strategy to run the Gauntlet (found in the Black Market section) as often as possible. Both my guys have all green gear at least, with some blues thrown in for good measure.

Re: Pit of War
I went back a few months ago and started playing again..and realized that it was now counting fights that I did not initiate as wins/losses...so with two or three years worth.....needless to say W-L record took a hit. Yes Vic that is a good strategy. Of course I usually only spend one day doing that...the rest I just breeze by as otherwise you can spend hours on the game. And if you do not have purple gear....well once yet get to Primus and Blood God be prepared to see those losses come at you Still like Bloodpit better, even though the guys in charge of Pit of War actually tell you what is going on. Anyway I'm SoddenEntrails over yonder.

Re: Pit of War
The daily tavern missions are a great way to get xp points and skill points. But time consuming

Re: Pit of War
Yes very time consuming. And most of my guys I had to convert from old system to the new skill system...so I went from 100 skills with most of them to around 50 if I was lucky. Very bad for facing people with 100 skills!

Re: Pit of War
In PitofWar, PRE gives you a chance to train better and gives initiative bonus. I wonder if they took this from something they knew about BP, or if they added it in because of how useless PRE is in BP

Re: Pit of War
Are you sure about pre helping with trains? It doesn't mention that in the pop-up description of pre.

Re: Pit of War
Is this the same game that ran at the same time as bloodpit back in 1990?

Re: Pit of War
Yeah Vic. I have run two warriors up to 200 fights. PRE effects trains in this game

Re: Pit of War
Ah, it helps with things that use pre. I suppose if you have a theatrics guy, then pre will help. Not so much with rage, though.

Re: Pit of War
Some stat trains are even effected by it. And chi as well. In each train box it lists different stats that effect that particular train.

Re: Pit of War
Skills yes, stats no. All the stat boxes just say "stamina" as the stat that effects them. Maybe different races can have pre effect their stat trains? I dunno. I've only run like 3 races in the game.

Re: Pit of War
Agility and chi and other stats factor into my stat trains so that I'm sometimes upping one because I really want to up another.
