Re: Armor & Encumbrance
I tried bumping a few of my CS dwarves up to chainmail this past turn and it totally backfired.
Back to scale mail for now!

That's a shame, I was just looking back the lowest stats I have for a current cser on Chain are 18 for both str and con.
I run a real low activity on cstrike so depending on what you run might have a slight impact.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
As far as I've been using it, 3 is the activity level sweet spot.
Somehow I usually get in more attacks than them.

I've had great success with a variety of activity levels and CS. It depends on the weapon(s), the warrior and the competition.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
yeah, i ran 3 activity for a while on my cser set ups.
For a reason I cant remember I dropped to one/two activity for my set ups (set ups all very similar) and they seemed to work better.
Its down to set ups and personal choice I guess

Do a lot of them start out something like this:
16-7-16-12-XX-XX
???
16-7-16-12-XX-XX
???

You give me any CSer with a startup such as 16-7-16-12-x-x and I'll give you a winner.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
My best CSer Gurps started with 20-5-16-x-x-x and in his first 50 fights went 45-5-5! Had him on high armour from the start, Half Plate i think!

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
Had tried low con CSer, starting con 10, but they are never as good, still get a winning record but it wont be as impressive as a higher con CSer!

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
MURMUR started with a 10 con, but also a 17 int, so his massive pile-up of skills early on made up for his low con. Still though, starting 10 con is a freaking nightmare.

You did great with Murmur considering he started with a 10 con!! I was sure he was a decoyer though??

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
He only used decoy later in his life, when he was surrounded by other CSers, but he was primarily running CS. I eventually got his con to 18 (shock!) before he almost killed LORD DARIUS. :/

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
Speaking of CSers, I think it is time for DARK FURY to learn something besides mace. As you can see, it is starting to have less use. His record is suffering.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
Yeah i know! Have been trying to train him up in another weapon for a few weeks now. But it will be a while yet before he uses it has i have other trains to get before i let him loose with it.
Regarding the mace i was surprised he did so well with it, Getting the second best human 100 fight record was amazing But as you say its not been as effective lately.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
Your mace usage certainly raised some eyebrows and got people's attention.
Fingers crossed that his int is higher than 14 so he can learn that new weapon. I don't recommend stiletto for him.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
If the other trains you are considering are lunge or charge, might I recommend going ahead and mastering up the weapon and setting him loose with it? My reasoning is that the mace doesn't have secondary skills (lunge, charge) and he's fighting with it now, so you might as well swap out weapons.
I would really hate to see my advice get him killed, though. So you do what you feel is best.
The competition at that level is quite fierce, as all the slouches have been killed off... with one or two exceptions. When this group makes it to the top 10, it will be VERY fierce indeed!

I would go lower starting dex
my best cser started 17 -6-17-16 he is at 77-23-6 record at the mo
my other cser star started 17-5-17-12 he is 80-33-4.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
My CSer ANSEN started. 17-4-17-16-7-10
He's 4-7 with 14 trains over 11 fights. Most disappointing of my dwarves so far.

I believe that was one you designed against my urgings for more dex and size and less int.
4 starting dex is tricky. 3? Forget it!
Cam, those lower dex CSers start to suffer at the top as they are toast in the hands of a skilled, lightning quick lunger. Just ask the CSers around APPLE NEWTON.

He picked up another initiative train and kicked butt this turn. But the CSers I made since him are much better

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
I do believe the CSers you've made since him have had higher dex scores, so they will be more successful in returning a blow after parrying.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
17-10-17 is a mountain of difference from 17-4-17. After pushing and getting 6 dex trains, the former would just be getting to where the latter started. 17-10-17 will have a better return hit percentage and have the options of the occasional offensive strategy, should the need arise.
