Armor & Encumbrance
I was asking Vic for advice and he suggested a loose STR to Armor guideline. I'm posting it here and inviting everyone to chime in on how they feel race/strategy/activity level & CON also effect this chart.
Rough strength armor guide
24-25 full plate
22-23 half plate
19-21 chain
17-18 scale
14-16 brig
12-13 cuir
7-11 leather
4-6 cloth
3 naked
--------------------------------------------------------------
From what I understand we lost a wealth of information when one of the old BP sites went down. So I am trying to find questions and topics that we can collectively rebuild all that knowledge with. And also take into account the newer game physics, (nerfed weapons and strategies etc)
So who's got ideas or insight on armor/encumbrance?

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
According to an original manual I still have the following values are true.
Armor WT. ENC.
None 0 0
Cloth 8 2
Leather 12 4
Cuir Boulli 17 8
Brigandine 24 11
Scale Mail 35 20
Chainmail 44 23
Half-plate 63 42
Full Plate 80 57
Headgear
None 0 0
Leather cap 1 1
Steel cap 3 2
Helm 5 3
Camail 7 5
Full-helm 9 6
How this pertains, encumbrance value in armor, I am not truly sure.

Yeah no correlation yet on how that translates to STR and CON

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
I'm gonna start posting whole fights with stats/starts listed in instances where my very tired triggers get set off earlier than I'd hope for them to have.
Hoping this might stimulate the topic.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
Well this is very rough as I don't have anything written down about this that I follow.
I don't actually know the armour weights and encum figures, I just kinda know after playing so long what to give my guys when I look at their stats and then tweak as I go.
so for what its worth this is my own guidelines I follow( in most average warrior cases) (im sure some vet managers out there will have a much better system).
lets say average offensive activity, average weapon and warrior size (Size does impact on armour carry load)
Just giving you what I use the most.
Brig/steelcap Min 15 for both ( str, con).
brig/helm . min 16 both
scale/helm between between17 and 19 for both
chain/helm one 18plus one at least 20 other
chain/camail both 20 plus
half plate /camail or full helm min 23 both
full plate/camail or full helm 24/25 both.
This is very rough guys, lower activity warriors can carry more armour than the above. Two warriors of same str/con but diff sizes will have diff encum issues. The smaller one not being able to cope as well with the armour weight.
I look at Str/Con stats as a combined armour figure to simplify things for my pea brain. I don't add them together but I kinda know how they compensate each other by looking at both figures. I cant put it into print. Its like driving I guess I don't think about it much I just know what to do.
clear as mud right!??
forgot to say I use this guide in my head for all races.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
My Counter strike Dwarfs running low activity level usually run scale at 17STR 15 CON
But yes this is a cool loose guide. I think there must be some actual science to it.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
im sure that some stats genius could come up with a specific working table. Im a more intuitive player.
yeah scale looks perfect for a cser with those stats.
Couple more trains and you can bump to chain. Eighteen for both.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
I also have a pair of Horc TK brutes that I refuse to push higher than Cuir so far even though their stats can handle it, so they don't slow down. Only runni g the TK like 7, and these are young warriors, but the lower armor considering the strategy seems to be working

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
Yeah that's interesting TK at 7 , I have always put mine at 9 never tried it lower than that.
Its a tricky one if you your are running TK as a main strat. You want as heavy an armour as they can handle without wilting because you know that these besrkers don't give a flying fook about defence.
I take it you are praying for some str and con trains!!

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
They're both like 19/18 STR/CON So far, 8-2-1 & 7-1-0
And they each deal out Like a perm a turn. I will take them off TK soon. I don't see it as a safe strategy for their career, but in the meantime I got two wicked records for first ten fights. I kept the armor down so they'd be quicker. At SIZ 14 they can both take a little damage.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
Being tutored by Vic I have been taught that activity level 9 is a never, for any strategy, for any warrior you're trying to keep alive.
You'll take perms like a MF and you'll wind up very tired by the end of minute two. And then I can get a kill off my TK 6 trigger. (Which D3dN3d 8-2-2 CS dwarf has now done twice)

They are very nice records.
I have a guy who is 19-5-3 who has been on TK 9 main start from fight one. he has 1 level 1 perm. I will change him out soon but will prob give him 30 fights on it.
I usually don't use TK past 20 fights as skill start making a diff then and its less effective. Tk 9 gets some easy wins for young warriors under 20 fights and perms are less likely at that range.
I have ran TK 9 upto 40 fight range (not very often) on some guys that were just deadly with it.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
We'll TK already has a higher attack rate. But activity level 9 and TK both lead to perms, fumbles and exhausted.

Oh and I'm still over here making coffee/waking up.
D3dN3d is actually the 8-2-1 Horc
DHUG DASH is the 8-2-2 CS dwarf with a TK 6 trigger

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
I'd rather rely on Initiative trains than a maxed out activity level.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
Initiative will help your guy get the first attack and maintain an uninterrupted series of attacks but it doesn't increase your attack rate, or the number of attacks made. Trains in weapon will increase the attack rate and damage dealt.

His last three fights lasted 4,5, 4 mins he has not slowed up in any of them and he is fighting in chain!
I don't even have a "tired strat" in for him as he usually ends most fight in 3/4 mins.

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
I should have said I have triggers to change out my TK guys for diff fight situations.
Im assuming you don't think that is the only srat im using that would be suicidal and they would collapse every fight.

So you go from TK to something less aggressive when the opponent is damaged or tired?
Do you mind if I ask this warrior's stats?

No bother
Half orc started on 17-12-15-10-4-13
currently on 21-14-18-15-4-13
I have medium /heavy damage triggers in for my warrior to save his skin if he is getting a pasting on TK. Im gonna change him out soon he is too good to lose too early!

Re: Armor & Encumbrance
I had him 2mins on tk 9 in chain on this one!
Thing is if you put a medium Damage trigger in for your warrior with a tk 9 main strat
They either fight like a nutter on TK 9 deal out a lot of punishment(good hits more times than not) and if they don't get much damage back stay on main strat and the fight is over quickly.
Or still fight like a nutter (hopefully give out some damage) and if you take same damage change styles which hopefully decreases perm chance and you can slog it out for longer as it is a more even fight.
its just a bit of fun for young warriors, you cant really use it for older guys.
I love seeing my guys in beserker mode

Kick butt. At that stage his skills must compliment the warrior too I'd think.
My turn is already uploaded, I think I bumped one of my TK Horcs up to Brig. But won't go to access the server again till I see the turn has run
