Dethroner 2021 Winner

I decided that winning both categories of UW were the metrics required for MODOFO to win the tie break between he and VIC for Dethroner.

So congrats MODO.

I am sorry I got too busy to run this once I was back to fulltime work at my J-O. idk if I'd try it again next year. I think self reporting is maybe the best way to run it after initial parameters are set.

Oh, so Modofo gave you a good nugget of info? Now I wanna know what he shared.

I think there could be a final tie. There isn't really any overtime period.

There was no quid pro quo. I just decided winning the actual UW was a good tie breaker.

But I am still interested in a thing about BP that you think I don't grasp yet, based on your fights with my glads MODO. You're one of the most consistantly hard to beat managers more-so than VIC or the other perennial big hitters.

Thank you for running Dethroner. I've been away for a long time, and so I had not realized that Dethroner was still being run. It's good to see the game is still going and that contests are still being run.

What a surprise that there was a tie this year. It seems there was no rule for how to break a tie in the Dethroner, so you used UW to break the tie.

Those two contests measure very different abilities, have different goals, and metrics, and are in some sense opposite. Selecting the winner of a tie based on UW seems removed from the spirit of Dethroner. They are separate contests.

It seems it would have been better to choose based on who got the most kills in the event of a tie. OR maybe have the two managers go to war until one of them gets a kill... THAT would be fun!

If you were open to this kind of fun, you might ask Modofo and Vic if they are up to some head-to-head action until a kill is registered one way or the other. And knowing both of them, I bet they would be up for it. I know I would tune in to see that!

I just refreshed my memory of Dethroner. I think my previous idea of the war between managers was a bit off. Here is a recalibration of my previous post.

It seems the best selector of a winner would be either to select by who got the most kills during the contest or have the tie broken by a turn of challenges between the tied members, where points were awarded only for challenges that were won on that turn. If still a tie, then kills on that turn would decide...

When I decided to undertake running Dethroner this year I was laid off from work for 3 months because of CoV19. I got to start work again in March and that's when I fell behind.

VIC is welcome to challenge MODOFO for the title based on your ideas, but I am just no longer *running* Dethroner this year.

Welp, DWARFDALORIAN beat WACK-A-GLAD this turn so I guess that means I'm the Dethroner winner.  

That sounds like as good a reason as any of these. WACK-A-GLAD was one of the final three in UW.

I think this is accurate.  I did a tally of knockouts, not points.

So, I snuck in at the end with higher points, but Modofo succeeded in defeating more gladiators.  This seems like a good tie breaking metric to me.  Unless there was an 8th round that nobody posted about.

That seems like a great way to break the tie that is in line with the point of the contest.
Modofo takes it however we slice it!

I have to agree that makes the most sense for a tie-breaker...most knock-outs. I'd follow that with most kills during knock-outs.

However, I still think this year was a tie.
