UW Contest???

When does it start this year?

It's the only reason I even pay attention when the Super Bowl is.

Pigskin is no competition for a trusty morninghammer.

If anyone wants to take the punny name PITSKIN or PITTSKIN, be my guest.

I mentioned last year that I want to transition ownership of the contest to another manager to take it over for me, I've been running it for 20 years now; hard to believe. I basically run the contest by manually parsing the weekly turn results in a text file, and then importing that into a MS Access DB for processing. So, if someone wanted to take over the contest, you would have to have MS Access or a similar program that you could migrate the processing logic to, or an enterprising coder type person could probably create a simplified processing method beyond my meager skills.

I don't have any db tools.  Stalker, if you still have the tools, can you start it and use the tools to weed out the masses, and then after a few turns, I can take over with manual checking/removal.  I mean, I've been doing it for years now anyway, just not at first when the numbers are overwhelming.

I'll ask one of my programmer buddies if he can whip something up.

Will there be a UW Contest this year?

Vic said he'd run it, but needs help with a program to run the contest.

Would Stalker or Nev have a program that they can share with Vic?

Now that we are past the ides of March my available time is rapidly diminishing, to the point where I can't commit to running such a huge contest.  I think 2022 might have to go without a UW contest.  Or, we wait until snow starts to cover the ground again, late in the year, at which point my time will be considerably freer once again.

If someone could please post the rules for the UW contest. I will moderate the event.The starting date for the UW contest will start on turn 1141 03/27/22. See you in the pit best of luck too all.

UW XXI rules.
The following result in elimination from the tournament
* A fighter loses a fight
* A fighter misses a turn
* A fighter challenges another fighter, regular or blood challenge, even if the fighter wins. I will allow a challenge between the final two warriors if both Managers agree!

Other rules
* There will be two class winners, a >100 fight champion and a <100 fight champion; based upon the total fights for a given warrior at the start of turn 1
* In the past stalker allowed managers who completely missed a turn to suffer a random 50% loss of their remaining eligible fighters to continue, I believe that this was good through the 1st 4 weeks of the contest or until you had less than 10 warriors left in the competition. Those that participate in Team Fights are also eliminated.
