Nice perm hit. I think GPV will provide many thrilling reads in the months (years?) to come. Now that con is 12, I think we should keep it triple trained in the hopes of picking up another point or two next fight, then go for some int trains. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

can never have too much CON. I'd go triple-train until the next train in CON. Then I'd deviate a training, or two, to something else. At which point, I'd probably cycle in halberd skills to offset the lack of strength.

Gah! What an embarrassing win. I'm not surprised by the lack of trains, given GPV's low con and int. Get used to this folks. Let's do some tweaking to see what we can come up with to increase GPV's damage. All those cuts and scrapes with a halberd is depressing.

I would not have thought a 19 STR warrior using the halberd would be faring this well.

I think it's something to do with the race of Half-Orc. I have a Half-Orc with 19 Str doing very well with a Halberd.

Perhaps because he is a large and mighty half-orc Also, so far it appears the vast majority of his opponents have been shrimps. From my experience with stick figures, only a few hits bring em down. 19 STR lets you wield 7 weight weapons 1-handed ( I think) as 25 STR lets you wield 9 weight weapons 1-handed (think halberd is 9.5). Of course think 19 is on the lower end of the scale...sooooo maybe the shrimps Smile

Well, it is sad to admit, but GPV has fought some pretty terrible opponents. The best record he's faced is 0-0-0. I wish I was joking.

Honestly, most of my warriors don't have a single skill before 20 fights.

As for his success... I helped design him! Smile

The 19 STR is working for now because his stats outclass most of his opponents. Will need to get it up later or he will start to slip.

As for trains... I'd get his CON up to 17 before worrying about stat training anything else. I'd go CON, Halberd, Parry for trains this turn. But that's me... What do I know?

I think Initiative trains to very good, instead of Parry at this early stage of GVP's career. I think he could go another 5 odd fights before needing defense trains, but, due to the slow speed of the Halberd, getting more hits in would be more beneficial at this stage.

Of course Initiative trains are always good. However, I wouldn't waste the trains seeing as he already has one skill in it and an 11 INT. I'd wait until his INT is up before getting multiple skills in any area.

Master, it goes back to GPV's low int. Keep going for the lvl 1 skills until con to 17 and int to 14.

I saw that I had plugged in con/con/parry, with the hopes of speeding up his con train. I don't want that slot to be filled for the next 20 fights.

I was just looking at GPV's stats and was pondering future trains.

After con to 17 and int to 14, then I believe most of the vets would argue for pushing strength to 22, which will take more time than raising dex to 17, but have much deadlier consequences. I concur. After the str trains, then dex to 19.

At this point, GPV will be almost 2 years old, given a starting con of 11. heheheheh

My triple Ints usually give me a doughnut hole. Again, checked the fights to see how GPV was doing (well and Plebius as well). Usually sneak a peak at the website to see if the turn has run before I actually download my turn.

Dag, yer right. All 3 fights I've had with Ruby has had his warriors slinging broadswords. His record shows it. 406-589-5

Someone should help him out and send a challenge with the blood cry "Ruby! Stop using broadswords! They suck! Try a morningstar instead!" or something to that effect.

I have one guy using a broadsword, knowing full well that the weapon blows. I also happened to put it in the hands of a suck warrior design. Poor YFFRIL. Doomed from the beginning, but still alive (for the moment). What can I say? I like a good challenge.

I decided to run him without asking for input, so as to give a peek into what many would consider a crazy way to train a warrior. I'm also doing a bit of experimentation with him which has proved to be quite fun.

The fact that both public warriors are of a larger size makes for some thrilling action. I mostly run wiry gladiators and have certainly enjoyed the run these two gladiators have provided.

Oh wait, I take that back. I've had 3 fights with ruby wielding broadswords, and it just so happens that all 3 were with GPV.

My record against RUBY is 11-1-1 with the single loss being quite the shocking upset as his SKULLY (13-11-0) took down my hot elf ANEMIC (17-3-0) in 2 minutes of improbable action. I do believe the outcome would be different were they to meet on the sands now. Oooooh, I just checked. SKULLY is no more, replaced with... SKULLY (2-6-0). Another broadsword wielder?

Man this guy's getting tricky to train. That last INT train would be good, but he almost needs a quick pass with a triple train on STR and DEX at least once. This guy could be a complete animal trained right. Like I said... it's a tricky call.

However, my warriors would've had at least a triple train or two in STR and DEX before they would've attempted any skills. The guy's an orc after all... what the hell's he doing training skills so early anyways?

Maybe trip train str first, as it will have more of an impact in the near term than raising int.

Gah, I can see this going so many ways. Soon, his natural advantage from having a high str/size will begin to wear off as glads around him with better cons start getting their raises.

GPV has, as Poeg would say back in the day, training mojo. Some gladiators have it, some don't. Though, I've had many warriors who would train like crazy early on, then stop training. Their records reflect the cessation of trains. My warrior CHLAMYIDA, a dual short sword finesse elf, who started on turn 391, peaked with a record of 32-12-5. She trained very well at first but eventually died on turn 478 with a record of 56-38-7, with a miserable 50 fight span of 24-26-2 from her peak. She got few trains in the latter half of her career. She was a fun fighter to manage.

GPV was too good to be true. My first thought is to crush The General into itty bitty meatballs, but that will have to wait. We need to get started on GPVI so gPleb can have his way with ENDANGERED SPECIES, unless Warlord thinks it is necessary to avenge a random kill. I know he and I have not been on the best of terms as of late, but I hope he sees the tragedy in GPV's death and allows me to avenge his demise.

So... let's get started! I want the new one up and running before the turn runs next week. We can do it! Please check back DAILY as I will be updating as much as possible. We need to avenge GPV's death!

I realized, after GPV's death, that I should have bumped him from chain to half-plate after getting his 22 str. I have a feeling it would have helped him survive. D'oh! Live and learn!
