Training sounds good.....might want to change trigger 5 as it is the same as trigger 6 and I seem to recall reading somewhere that when you switch to WoS during the round it more or less ends your attacks. Maybe make trigger 4 medium damage?

Even though he is continuing with the same fight strat from always to medium damage, it is nice to gauge GP3's damage level through the trigger change.

As for switching to WoS and ending attacks, I don't see that. I just checked another gladiator of mine who upon switching to WoS parried an attack and then made and hit with two attacks of his own.

GP3 has gone from a 17 to a 19 str, which isn't ideal, but for 2 handed wielding with a 7.5 weight weapon it is okay. Once his str is up higher, I think there will be a big difference.

I'm surprised at the fair number of attacks with the GS. I'm using it to correspond with GP and I find the weapon choice to be brutally slow. And my guy has a 21 STR.

Also, seems to be a clumsy attack from time to time in the past 2-3 fights. Could that be the AL 6 is too high? Maybe lower to AL 5?

I made the suggestion before to go WS 5 with GP as he seemed to make mistakes from time to time at WS 6. Whe GP triggered to WS 5, he seemed to immediately make a comeback with out any change to FELA KUTI's strategy.

Maybe give WS 5 a try for the always strategy?

I still think the greatstaff has been a bit of a disappointment.

I will go for some in a minute. GP3 needs to get his GS up to 5 pronto! Most fighters he will encounter will have zero brawl trains, so his 1 sweep train will work in capsizing them often enough. I had a feeling that the GS would be an awesome sweeping weapon, and methinks that might be the case.

I like the double-CON attempt as well.

I'd also like to see GPIII get another STR train in the not-so-distant future. Seems to me that GPIII would do more damage with a 21 STR and that GSx4. Hard to argue against his record thus far though.

Quick question, wouldn't GPIII be more likely to get a 2nd initiative skill before a fifth GS skill? In that case, wouldn't make more sense to give that a shot, then switch back to GS after doing so? I know you're looking for that x5 GS situation, which is undoubtedly better than as is. However, if running WS 5, wouldn't more initiative be just as useful?

This might be a bit off topic, but I noticed in 3 of the last 4 fights, the opponent wore cuir boulli armor. In those three fights, the armor seemed to negate a blow. On top of that, numerous of the successful attacks were for minor damage. I'm wondering what you thought about that? Could the cuir be an effective armor against the greatstaff? Is it primarily due to low STR? Not enough STR to meet the minimum requirement for effective use of the GS?

Lack of a train is always a disappointment, but the win is always welcome.

VIC VEGAS:
A 20 str would be adequate to use a 7.5 weight weapon. The Great Staff is as heavy as a Battle Flail, and heavier than a Tower Shield. I do hope to get GP3 up to a 22 str as soon as possible, which will make for a hefty increase in damage. Around the 60-70 fight mark, I would hope that GP3 will be going for a 24 str.

After getting a 19 in con, GP3 will go for a 22 str.

After hitting skill 5 in great staff, I'm thinking of switching to a stat/skill/skill train with the skills being parry/sweep, until sweep 2, then parry/parry until parry 5. I'm still paying keen attention to GPIII, but yeah, for the most part, the sound of the crickets is the best we've heard recently. Though, I don't think many people are actually visiting this forum.

We'll have to see how quickly that 19 CON comes around. My gut feeling is that it'll take longer to get that 19, than it will to get the 22 STR from 20.

Good to see your perspective on that GS requirement. I was using the GS with a 21 STR and was seeing similar results though (ie, low damage). It could simply have been running WS 5 as well?

Another question;
Why go EW for "You have taken heavy damage" trigger?

I'd be interested in seeing how that GS works with CS if you have the inclination to check that out at some point.

Of course, you are paying attention Stimp... I was referring to the dozen or so others that used to pay attention on the old Pitt. All of my gladiators have a battle cry telling people to visit the new Pitt.

I think the 19 con will hit first... and sooner than you think, especially with a double con train plugged in.

I don't want to try CS until GP3 gets some parry skills under his belt. It would have worked as a strat very early on, but now there are too many opponents with weapon skills that would shred his attempts at parrying. I don't want to rely on an accidental parry, which is what GP3 would do at this point.

GP3 now has a 21 str! At 19 fights he has 15 stat trains, and 6 skill trains. We should see an improvement in damage from this. I have the train set to str/str/great staff

I'm impressed. You wanted to get 1x CON, and 2x STR as fast as possible and ended up doing it in 3 turns, also adding 1x INT during that time.

With a 15(11) INT right now, my vote would be to go 2x INT, 1x Parry, Dodge, or Initiative. GPIII can use any of those skills and it wouldn't hurt to try for them.

It's a preference. I can see Sleazee's point of view. If you decide to go for triple-train on INT, I suggest a stated goal to reach at which point GPIII will switch to something else.

A fun read, but a loss and no train makes for a sad GP3. I liked seeing the new weapons face off against each other, but wish the fight had tilted a smidge in The People's Champ's direction. Oh, it was a lvl 1 perm that GP3 picked up.

Interesting how that scimitar went from doing minimal damage to laying down several very solid blows in a row after Haggis went to Strategy 2. Most of those attacks seem to be of the slashing variety. Could it be that the scimitar gets a special damage bonus on top of the reputed extra damage slash does?

The int train is certainly nice, bringing GP3's to 16.

I played around last minute and swapped the cuir for brig. It seems to be a good choice. I added a slightly tired blood cry and he didn't say it, which is very nice.

If memory serves, GPIII is now +5 across the board in stats and +2 since SleazeeP suggested training INT. It is probably time to start focusing on skills. I'd probably go CON/GS/Parry. Another CON wouldn't hurt, and it will give a tad bit better shot at improving other stats down the road.

After a couple of parry skills, I wouldn't mind seeing how GPIII does running a CS strategy with that GS.

I wouldn't mind seeing some more dex. Heck, it would be great if they were all +7, but that will come in time. A +5 dex will give him a 21, which would be really sweet.

I have dex/dex/parry plugged in. I would rather get a great staff or sweep train first, but a little defense at 22 fights isn't such a bad thing.

As long as he's got a parry attempted queued in the train list, I'm happy with it. An increase in dex and int would certainly be beneficial. Then again, so would more weapon, init, dodge, sweep, etc... you get the picture. One step at a time.

I wonder, was the booty-whoopin' a result of a strategy v. strategy matching? I can't tell if Chase was using WS or Bash early on.
