STIMPY:
You're attempting to go from 4 to 5x in GS, 5 to 6x in INT and 6 to 7x in DEX. All would be great and helpful. I fall into the camp of "I'd rather train something rather than nothing." IF GPIII doesn't get a train this time around, I suggest switching one attempt to parry, initiative or sweep. It is easier to get a second skill than a fourth or beyond.

As the old and wise Dux says, there is a huge difference between a 6 and 7 in skill and a 1 and 2 in skill.

GP3 is going for dex/int/dodge... and has been for two turns. This would be going from a 0 to 1 in dodge. Grrr... sometimes gladiators don't train, which can be frustrating.

DUX MORTALITAS:
Is it just a mistaken impression, or is the great staff an anemic weapon? Although I haven't read all that many GP fights, those that I have read all indicate that with the exception of a few good hits most are just underwhelming.

VIC VEGAS:
It doesn't seem to do a tremendous amount of damage, and is worse than a quarterstaff at sweeping. Granted, GP3 only has 1 sweep train, but he is attacking the legs.

I highlighted GP3's damage lines to enable skimming of his fights. Is there another event/trigger that someone would like to have color coded? This could make for a colorful read, but also a nice way to break down, organize and study a fight. Interesting... Hmmm.

In 8 mins did I only see 3 sweep attempts against a guy wearing half-plate armor? This seems too few.

I know I'm a fan of that WS 4 strategy in trigger 5, but maybe go with something a bit more unorthodox? Like decoy 4. Double-train GS, and toss in an attempt at feint for good measure.

Of course, there isn't a whole lot to sneeze at when your record is 20-10-X.

Decoy with zero feint trains and a big heavy weapon? Stimp... step away from the crack pipe! (heheheh... on a side note, I initially had a typo and typed crack pope, which would make a nice gladiator name)

I think the switch to heavier armor has reduced his damage as well. I'm not saying we should drop him back down, but perhaps we should drop him back down... to brig? Hopefully this 5th GS train will help.

I still have gs trip trained. This needs to get up to 7 ASAP!

I just changed his #6 two fights ago....decided to change up my flails a bit. Seems to me I got lucky as you lost both your GSs and got stuck with that bladed flail--of course appears it was knocked out of GPs hands as he kissed the sand for the final time.

11-14-14-15-7-10 elf with shortsword or 15-10-14-15-7-10 1/2elf with longsword. So far Ive done pretty well with the longsword, which is saying alot for not so great record.

I can say this with a certainty... I don't want to run an elf. I have a TON of elves in my roster and the last thing I want is another one to run. Dux and I were chatting about elves the other night... they are like a virus... once you get the bug, you start seeing elves everywhere. lol

Though, this guy could make an interesting elf, of course. I would go 9-14-12-17-7-12

but no elf... no elf!

Though, I haven't looked to see what else this guy could do.

This guy would make a great dwarven counterstriker. 15-7-15-15-7-10... with two points extra. I would either go with con or size 15-7-17-15-7-10 or 15-7-15-15-7-12.

boar spear/target shield and he would tear things up. Too easy, though. Anyone have any oddball type suggestions? I like having GP be somewhat experimental... either with a seldom used weapon or a new one. I don't think this character has enough dex for a sword, but I've certainly had gladiators with winning records wielding swords with low dex.

It would be really easy to make a good dwarven counterstriker as you said. Something a little more odd 12-9-18-18-7-7 maybe a halfling. He/she should be able to train skill and stats rather quickly.

I'd go 12-9-15-15-7-13, take the scimitar and go decoy and/or counterstrike. Then pick a race and give that a run. I'd probably opt for a dwarf, but I'm seeing dwarf's everywhere right now.

For somthing different I'd go 15-9-11-15-7-14 halfling with a morningstar. That's somthing I haven't seen for a while

Vic, I just lost my favorite dwarf this last turn--he was 31-18-3 when he kicked the bucket which is good for me. Used a morning star....his starting stats were 14-14-11-12-6-14--the Con was horrible when I rolled him up and he managed to hang in there. So Id say a Dwarf with a morningstar would be good, esp with the 15-7-15-15-7-12 set up. Yes I too see elves everywhere......

Might I suggest something really ODD - LAWN MOWER! ;^)
Try 13-13-11-15-7-12 Dwarf/Human/Halfling with primary weapon shield (either target or tower shield). Train him to be a shield rusher using E&W for example. Another stat configuration that may work would be 15-14-13-15-7-7 (which may work best for the halfling...). Not sure if his shield rushes will knock people down with that smaller size, but seeing as this has never been tried in modern BP, we don't know. (I did try it in the ancient days to interesting effect). My warrior was a str 5, size 3 start, which was definitely a mistake. He had a natural 16 pre and 20 int and con, which left almost nothing left for the beef. This was in the days of magic, so I thought he would be fine as a magic user primary lawn mower secondary.

Key point would be that you get him trained up in shield and charge asap to knock opponents down with shield rushes. Sure would be entertaining!

I was thinking that the pickaxe is a nice new weapon, but I've seen several calls for the morningstar, which is a weapon I love and use often.

There have been quite a few calls for a halfling, and I think that would be just fine.

What about sleazee's setup, as a halfling, perhaps with a scimitar or long sword? Not sure about the str. perhaps start with short sword and get str up right away then switch to one of the above.

Thoughts? Tweaks? I like using new weapons in a public forum.
